Tina
Turner 73, one of the most famous rock star
may renounce her U.S citizenship to become a citizen of Switzerland.
Turner,
who was born Anna Mae Bullock in Nutbush, Tenn., first went to Zurich with her
longtime, partner Erwin Bach. They have lived in the Zurich suburb of Kuensacht
since the mid- 1990s.
The
Zuerichesee-Zeitung newspaper said on its website that the local council announced
its decision to grant Turner citizenship. “Tina Turner will therefore also give
back her U.S. citizenship,” her rep told the Swiss newspaper.
“I
am very happy in Switzerland and I feel at home here. I could not imagine a
better place to live.” Turner told the German Newspaper Blick
“She
completed the normal process, like everyone else,” say spokeswoman Karin Rhomberg.
“She is happy, as it was included here, as they are treated in a friendly and
unobtrusive.”
The
rock and roll artist has sold more than 200 million records with hit songs such
as: Proud Mary, Private Dancer and What’s Love Got to Do with It. In her autobiography, “I Tina” she claimed that
she was abuse by Ike Turner prior to their divorce.
